MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Whitney Jaffe handed out six more assists and now has the second-most helpers in a single season as the Falcons dominated Converse by a final score of 19-7 on Monday evening. Jaffe pushed her season total to 42 assists and is just nine shy of breaking the record of 50 set by Melissa Anderson in 2006.
Jaffe added one goal for a seven-point night, which pushed her over 100 points for her career. The senior entered the contest with 94 points and joins teammate Gracie Herbert as Falcons to cross the 100-point threshold this year.
After Converse scored the first goal of the game, Pfeiffer rattled off five in a row and eight of nine goals to take the commanding lead. A pair of Converse tallies cut the Pfeiffer lead to 8-4 but Herbert's free position goal with 8:30 left started a 5-0 scoring spurt to end the half and give the Falcons a 13-4 advantage going into the break.
In the second half, Converse was able to cut the lead to 15-7 at the 20:25 mark before Molly O'Friel scored three goals in a row to secure the victory.
For the game, O'Friel and Herbert each scored four times to lead the Falcons. Cheyenne Green, Kim Ramirez and Ally Unkenholz all scored twice as the 19 goals was a season-high for the Falcons. Green's contributions weren't just in the scoring column as the senior tallied four ground balls, four draw controls and caused two turnovers. Jenna Hoffman also was credited with four draw controls and caused three turnovers, while Ramirez had four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Pfeiffer held a 35-20 advantage in shots and held a 31-30 advantage in ground balls. The Falcons registered clears on 14-of-17 attempts and took 16-of-27 draw controls.
The Falcons close out the regular season on Friday night as they host conference-leading Limestone at 7 p.m. Prior to the contest, Pfeiffer will recognize its senior class as part of Senior Night festivities.
