Box Score

Jeremy Zalacca - Director of Athletic Communications

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The No. 11 Limestone women's lacrosse team (13-3, 8-0 CC) used a nine goal second half to defeat the Pfeiffer Falcons (5-11, 5-3 CC) on Friday night. Prior to the game, Pfeiffer honored the contributions of its senior class as part of its Senior Night festivities.

Whitney Jaffe entered the game just nine assists shy of breaking the single season mark and added four more helpers to her total. Jaffe sits at 46 assists on the year and could break the record of 50 set by Melissa Andersen in 2006. In fact, Andersen and Jaffe are the only two players in school history to have more than 36 assists in a season.

Gracie Herbert and Molly O'Friel each scored twice for the Falcons and Kim Ramirez added one strike. Josie Lent caused three turnovers on the defensive end and grabbed three ground balls. In goal, Cassidy Wilson registered 12 saves and also had three ground balls.

Limestone held a 35-10 advantage in shots and were led by six goal from Jaylen Schulte. Kendra Sheppard added four goals for the Saints who wrap up an undefeated season in conference play and the regular season title.

The Saints also led the battle of groundballs, grabbing 23 compared to 12 for Pfeiffer. Limestone also held the advantage in draw controls, winning 18-of-24.

Pfeiffer led on two separate occasions in the first half and played the Saints tough. With the game tied at 4, Limestone closed the half by scoring the final three goals of the period and didn't look back.

With the loss, Pfeiffer is guaranteed the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Conference Carolinas Tournament. The Falcons will host a quarterfinal game on Tuesday with the opponent to be determined. After the quarterfinals, the rest of the conference tournament takes place at Saints Field over the weekend.
