BLUEFIELD, WV – The Pfeiffer men's tennis team (7-5) dropped a non-conference match to Bluefield State (12-2) on Sunday as the Big Blues defeated the Falcons 8-1 at the Bluefield State Tennis Courts. The only Pfeiffer victory came in doubles as Oscar Van Kock and Bjorn Barwinksi defeated Anthony Braem and Ingnacio Pulido.
Other doubles action saw doubles competition Jacob Carey and Aziz Yuldashev defeat Axel Woerner and Nils Hoffacker, 8-3 in the first position and in the third position Alexandr Rudenco and Platon Gud were victorious over Thomas Hubble and Anthony Brennan, 8-6.
In the first position singles, Hoffacker ost Carey, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. Bluefield State's Braem defeated Van Kock in the second position by the score of 7-6 (4-7), 6-1. In the third position, Rudenco defeated Woerner , 6-1, 7-6 (7-5). In the fourth position, Brennan fell to Aziz Yuldashev, 6-1, 6-2. Platon Gud was victorious over Barwinski 6-2, 6-7 (2-7), 6-3. In the sixth Pulido defeated David Weir, 6-3, 6-3.
Pfeiffer returns to action as they host USC Aiken in another non-conference match on Wednesday at the Knapp Tennis Center at 2:00 p.m.
