BUENA VISTA, Va. (April 18, 2026) — Pfeiffer won each of the six contested singles matches to earn a 6-1 USA South Conference men's tennis victory over Southern Virginia on Saturday morning at the Tennis Complex.
The Falcons (15-3) set the tone early at No. 1 doubles, where
Jayden Wellman and
Valter Albuquerque posted a 6-2 win over Mason Pitcher and Spencer Knight to claim the lone doubles match for Pfeiffer
Pfeiffer then rolled through singles play, winning in straight sets in five of the six flights. Aissultan Mukhambeto earned a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles, while Wellman followed with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 3.
Bogdan Stan cruised 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4,
Hugo Kezen edged Trent McBride 7-5, 6-4 at No. 5, and
Aden Burgoyne closed singles play with a 6-1, 6-3 decision at No. 6.
In the most competitive match of the afternoon, Pfeiffer's
Valter Albuquerque won his No. 1 match over Mason Pitcher, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 with the tiebreaker score of 10-4.
Pfeiffer entered the day ranked No. 74 nationally and improved to 15-3 overall, while Southern Virginia dropped to 3-9. The 15 wins for the Falcons sets a new single-season record for wins in a season.
By virtue of the win, Pfeiffer earns the No. 2 seed in the upcoming USA South Tournament and will take on third-seeded Methodist University on Friday, April 24 at 2:00 p.m. in Rocky Mount, N.C.
