BLUEFIELD, WV – The Pfeiffer Falcons (8-3) swept through doubles and singles matches at Southern Wesleyan (1-11) on Sunday as Olivia Nelms led the Falcons past the Big Blues' Tafadzwa Mawisire 6-1, 6-0 in the first position of singles.
Also in singles, Valeria Mendoza defeated Wendy Rudhu 6-1, 6-2 in the second position. In the third position, Hannah Watson took down Maria Hernandez,6-1, 6-1. Mylene Petitpas defeated Laura Hernandez 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 in the fourth position. Mara Hofstetter defeated Alaina Blankenship, 6-0, 6-0 in the fifth position and in the sixth position, Ashleigh Brimo was victorious over Marta Briales, 6-3, 3-0.
In doubles earlier in the day, Nelms and Petitpas defeated Rudhu and Mawisire in the first position, 8-2. In the second position, Mendoza and Watson took the win over Laura and Maria Hernandez, 8-0. Melinda Athay and ShaNisha White were victorious over Blankenship and Briales, 8-3.
The Falcons return to action on Saturday as they travel to Limestone in a Conference Carolinas match with first serve at 12 p.m.
