Box Score GAFFNEY, SC. - The Pfeiffer women's lacrosse team (6-12) saw its season come to a close as they dropped their Conference Carolinas semifinal contest to top-seeded Limestone (14-4) by a final score of 16-5 on Saturday afternoon.
Limestone used a 10-1 first half advantage to take control of the game. The Saints scored the first three of the contest before Gracie Herbert notched her 48th goal of the season off an assist from Molly O'Friel. However, the Saints would close on a 7-0 scoring spurt to take the 10-1 advantage into the break.
Herbert scored the first goal of the second half to cut the lead to 10-2, but Limestone would answer. The Saints scored six unanswered to grab the momentum. Pfeiffer would close the game with three goals in a row but it was too little, too late.
O'Friel ended the contest with two goals and two assists. Josie Lent led the Falcons with five ground balls and Ally Unkenholz grabbed three draw controls. Cassidy Wilson made six saves in goal for the Falcons.
Limestone out shot Pfeiffer 35-6 and held a 15-6 advantage in draw controls. The Saints move on to the championship game tomorrow afternoon, while the Falcons 2016 campaign comes to an end.
Whitney Jaffe recorded 50 assists on the year, tying her for the school record for most helpers in a single season. With her two goals, Herbert finishes the year with 49 strikes which is tied for sixth all-time. Wilson finishes her brilliant career with 422 career saves, which is good for second in Pfeiffer history.
