MISENHEIMER, NC –Senior Olivia Nelms continued her winning ways on Wednesday as she won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3 over Erisa Onchi of Catawba in singles on but the the Pfeiffer Falcons (0-1) women's tennis team dropped the close contest by the score of 5-4 to the Indians (2-0).
Pfeiffer's doubles Teams got the day started strong as they took two of three as Nelms and
Meggan Amour defeated Kristin Rocko and Olivia Wooldridge, 8-6. Also by the score 8-6, Shanisha White and
Mylene Petitpas took down Kirstin Saltus and Emily Corcoran. But Catawba rallied from the third position as Falcon newcomers Madison Hatley and
Alison Webb fell to Laura Isenhour and Onchi.
Later in singles, Petitpas defeated Rocko in the second position, 6-2, 6-3. Catawba took the next four positions as Amour fell to Woolbridge, 6-1, 6-3 out of the third position and in the fourth position, White retired in the first set. Hatley and Webb also fell in the straight sets from 5th and 6th positions respectively.
The Pfeiffer women are back in action on Friday, September 30th as they travel to Sumter, SC for the regional ITA tournament.
