GAFFNEY, SC - In a matchup that would determine first place in the conference standings, the Pfeiffer women's lacrosse team (7-4, 5-1 CC) dropped a 15-2 decision at No. 8 Limestone (9-1, 5-0 CC) on Saturday afternoon. Each team entered play with an unblemished record in league play but the Saints grabbed sole possession of first place with the impressive victory.   

Molly O'Friel recorded a goal and an assist and Meghan Bourque added Pfeiffer's other goal in the league battle.

Limestone held Pfeiffer to 10 shots on the afternoon, while the Saints registered 36 attempts. Limestone was 16-for-20 in clears and held the Falcons below 50 percent on clears (13-for-27). The Saints held a 15-3 edge in draw controls and 26-14 advantage in ground balls.

Limestone registered the first seven goals of the game until O'Friel fed Bourque with 57 seconds to go in the opening half to cut the deficit to 7-1 entering the break. Limestone kept the momentum going in the second half, netting the first six tallies.

O'Friel scored with 12:51 to play and has recorded at least one point in 17 straight games. However, the Falcons were kept off the scoreboard the rest of the way as Limestone secured the victory.

Emily James was solid for the Falcons in goal, tying a career high with 12 saves.

Courtney Lafler and Carleigh Davis each tallied a hat trick for Limestone and Shannon Sisk handed out four assists to go with a pair of goals.  

The Falcons will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Belmont Abbey for a 4 p.m. matchup.
