Box Score MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Pfeiffer women's lacrosse team (4-1) outscored Huntingdon (0-5) 11-0 in the second half and cruised to a 16-3 victory on Sunday afternoon. Ally Unkenholz scored five times and Meagan Bourque registered four goals and two assists for the Falcons.
Pfeiffer forced the Hawks into 33 turnovers on the afternoon and outshot Huntingdon 35-11, including a 20-2 mark in the second half. Pfeiffer collected 18-of-20 draw controls in the matchup and held a 28-21 advantage in ground balls.
Unkenholz and Bourque accounted for the first four goals of the game in just 4:53 of action. The Hawks withstood the opening scoring barrage and had back-to-back goals from Jade Paul. With 10:06 to go in the opening half, Molly O'Friel scored a free position goal to put Pfeiffer up 5-2 but Paul would complete the first half hat trick at the 7:55 mark.
The opening stanza would end with Pfeiffer holding a slim 5-3 edge but the Falcons exploded in the second half. Unkenholz started the goal scoring 1:53 into the second half as Pfeiffer tallied the game's final 11 tallies. Kylie Lode scored twice in that span and Hailey Metzger and Paige Bonds each netted their first career goals.
O'Friel finished the game with two goals, five ground balls, eight draw controls and four caused turnovers as the junior continues her terrific start to the season.
This was the first ever meeting of these two schools but there will be many more to come. Starting next year, Pfeiffer will transition to Division III and the USA South Conference where Huntingdon currently resides.
The Falcons will face a stiffer challenge on Wednesday as they host Lenoir-Rhyne at 5 p.m.
