MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Pfeiffer University women's tennis team (2-12, 0-8 CC) suffered a close defeat against Belmont Abbey (10-14, 4-6) at the Knapp Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon during Senior Day.

PFU fell behind early, losing two of three in doubles. The tandem of Mylene Petitpas/ShaNisha White picked up the team's lone doubles win at the No. 2 position, 8-4 over Darian DeFrench/Morgan Zahnd.

That proved to be the difference maker as the Falcons split singles action with BAC. Olivia Nelms squared the score to an even 2-2 with a strong 6-2, 6-2 win from the top position; Mylene Petitpas (6-0, 4-6, 6-2) and Meggan Amour (6-2, 7-5) also picked up victories at No. 2 and 4, respectively. But the Crusaders clinched the overall match win with advantages at No. 3, 5 and 6.

Pfeiffer will head over to King for a 1 p.m. contest on Wednesday, April 12.
