Box Score MISENHEIMER, N.C. – On Tuesday, the Pfeiffer Falcons (0-1) women's tennis team opened up their 2017-18 season and fell to the Catawba Indians(1-0) 9-0. Pfeiffer was only able to take two sets all afternoon.
The Indians took all three doubles matches as Erisa Onchi and Olivia Wooldridge defeated Juliana Batah and Anna Branson by the score of 8-1. In the second position of doubles, Sophie Hirsh and Isabel Benoit did not lose a game as they were victorious over the Falcons Allison Wike and Leah Upright. Kristen Rocko and Emily Corcoran also won by the score of 8-1 over Ally Delaney and Sydney Honeycutt.
Again in singles, Pfeiffer couldn't mount any success as Branson was the only Falcon to win a set on her opponent. Freshman Branson fell to Onchi 6-1, 6-0 in the first position. Another freshman from Brazil, Batah fell to Hirsh 6-0, 6-0 in the second position. In the third, Delaney also fell to her opponent Woolbridge, 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Wike dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision to Rocko. Madison Furr out of the fourth position fell to Corcoran and in the fifth Sydney Honeycutt went do to Benoit.
Pfeiffer will look to rebound this Saturday as they travel to Johnson C. Smith to face the Golden Bulls at 12:30 p.m. and Converse at 4:30 p.m.in a tri-match.
