Box Score Pfeiffer Men's Soccer Takes 8-1 Win Over Brevard
Misenheimer, N.C. (Oct. 7, 2018) – The Pfeiffer University men's soccer team scored five first half goals on their way to an 8-1 win over visiting Brevard College on Sunday afternoon and a hot and humid Lefko Field.
Pfeiffer got on the board in the 14th minute when Chris Brown (Sneads Ferry, N.C.) took a pass from Enrique Vargas (Asheboro, N.C.) and finished it into the top right side of the goal to stake the 1-0 lead. Less than three minutes later, Vargas scored on an assist from
Ryan Guidry (Huntersville, N.C.) to make it 2-0 Falcons.
The lead ballooned to 3-0 when Caleb Bratanger (Wake Forest, N.C.) took a pass from Vargas and slid it past the Brevard goalkeeper. Arian Cindahl (Asher, Norway) scored Pfeiffer's next two goals in the 34th and 40th minutes to take the 5-0 lead into halftime.
After halftime, Brevard got on the board when Adam Spencer scored to make it 5-1. Pfeiffer would then respond with a Jonathan Quintero (Mooresville, N.C.) goal in the 61st minute followed by a Guidry tally in the 74th. The final goal of the afternoon came when Vargas scored this second of the match after receiving a pass from Fernando Castro (Asheboro, N.C.), which would be his third assist of the afternoon.
Offensively, Pfeiffer dominated the Tornados, outshooting them by a 25-3 count.
David Chavarria (Franklinville, N.C.) earned the win in goal, improving the Falcons to 5-6 overall and 2-5 in USA South play.
The loss drops Brevard to 3-9 overall and 2-6 in league play.
Pfeiffer will return to the field on Wednesday, Oct. 10 with a nonconference home matchup with Johnson & Wales. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
