Pfeiffer Men's Soccer Claims Fourth Consecutive Win With 4-2 Homecoming Triumph Over Huntingdon

Misenheimer, N.C. (Oct. 5, 2019) –
The Pfeiffer University men's soccer team continued their terrific play as they claimed a 4-2 win over Huntingdon at Lefko Field on Saturday in front of a raucous Homecoming Day crowd.

The Falcons, winners of their fourth-straight match, started quickly when Conner Morgan (Concord, N.C.) received a cross from junior teammate Caz Dabrowski (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) and deposited into the right side of the net to put Pfeiffer up 1-0 in the fourth minute.

Sophomore Yonaton Abonza (Asheboro, N.C.) notched his first career goal to make it 2-0 in the 32nd minute when he unleashed a low shot from 20 yards out that skipped to the left of Huntingdon goalkeeper Zak Heino.

The lead was pushed to 3-0 when Caleb Brateger (Wake Forest, N.C.) scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season when he coupled with Jason Juarez-Leyva (Monroe, N.C.) on a give-and-go with Bratager finding the net.

The fourth goal for the Falcons was scored in the 43rd minute when Bratager supplied an assist to Diego Moran (Flushing, N.Y.)  who buried it from eight yards out for his second goal of the season.

Huntingdon did manage goals in the 47th and 64th minute from Taylor Bradley and Kelan LeBlanc to provide the 4-2 final.

Pfeiffer dominated the Hawks on the offensive end by unleashing 38 shots to Huntingdon's 10.  The Falcons onslaught kept the Hawk goalkeeper busy, as Heino recorded 14 saves in the loss.

Pfeiffer goalkeeper David Chavarria (Franklinville, N.C.) improved to 4-5 on the season and made four saves for the Falcons

The win boosts the Falcon record to 5-6 overall and 3-4 in USA South play while Huntingdon dips to 4-6 and 1-5 in league play.

Pfeiffer will return to league play on Tuesday, Oct. 8 when they travel to Brevard for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff with the Tornados.
