Box Score Pfeiffer Women's Tennis Falls at Mars Hill, 7-0
Mars Hill, N.C.– The Pfeiffer University women's tennis team opened the 2019 spring season on the road, taking a 7 -0 loss to homestanding Mars Hill.
The Falcons Sydney Honeycutt (Denton, N.C.) managed to take a team-best five games on the day, but fell in her No. 5 match to Kat Horner by a 6-3, 6-2 score.
Teammate Haylee Dixon (Washington, N.C.) also played well, taking three games, but fell 6-3. 6-0 in her No. 4 match. Darby Sherrill (Hiddenite, N.C.) played well, but fell at No. 3 to Julianne Launay, 6-2, 6-1.
Pfeiffer falls to 1-2 on the season with the loss while Mars Hill ups its record to 7-3.
The Falcons will take on Shaw University on Feb. 20 in their first home match of the season. Start time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at the Knapp Tennis Center.
