Pfeiffer Men's Tennis Gets 8-1 Win Over Brevard
Misenheimer, N.C. (Sept. 30, 2019 – The Pfeiffer University men's tennis team recorded their first win of the season on Sunday afternoon, downing visiting Brevard by an 8-1 score at a hot and humid Knapp Tennis Center.

THE BASICS
Pfeiffer swept all three doubles matches, and five of the six singles contests to earn the win.
At No. 1 doubles, the team of Raul Ruiz and Dylan Masters won 8-3 over Chrstian Rogerson and Jackson Ray. Pfeiffer also won at No. 2 when Alec Taylor and Trey Speight took their match by an 8-4 score. The No. 3 pair of Thiago Machado and Phillip Conaway rounded out the doubles sweep for the Falcons, winning 8-5.
In the singles matches, Pfeiffer took all but one to provide the 8-1 final. At the number three and five matches, Pfeiffer swept their opponents by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores with Masters winning at No. 3 and Taylor taking care of Brevard's Andrew Ingram at No. 5.
Braxton Harris also had a relatively easy time at No. 6 singles, as he dispatched his opponent by a 6-1, 6-1 score.
Ruiz captured his win by a 6-3, 6-0 score at No. 1 while Brandon Marchant outlasted Brevard's Ethan McGhee 6-4, 1-6 (10-7).
Brevard's lone point came at No. 4 when Speight fell in a tight match to Troy Broska by a 4-6, 7-6 (9-11) margin.
BACK ON COURT
Pfeiffer has concluded their fall competition and will begin spring play on Saturday, Feb. 15 with a road match at Division II Shaw University.
