Pfeiffer Women's Lacrosse Gets First Win at N.C. Wesleyan

Rocky Mount, N.C. (March 7, 2020) Senior Meagan Bourque scored six goals and had three assists in Pfeiffer's 18-8 USA South win at N.C. Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon in Rocky Mount, N.C.

HOW IT HAPPENED


First Half

Pfeiffer jumped ahead to a 5-0 lead when five different Falcon players scored.  Hailey Metzger started this off with a goal at 29:16 followed by a Gabby Bosak man-up goal at 27:50.  Kaley Hyatt used an assist from Sophia Griffin to go p 3-0 while Alyson Hanlon scored her first career goal at 23:00.  Meagan Bourque scored her first goal of the afternoon at 22:05 to lift the Falcons to the 5-0 lead.

N.C. Wesleyan then went on a tear, scoring four of the next five goals to draw to within 6-4 with 12:00 before halftime.  A Bourque goal at 11:09 put the Falcons up 7-4, but NCWC countered with a goal at 10:43.  The Falcons wrapped up the first half scoring with a Miranda Walton man-up goal at 9:56 to lead 8-5 at the break.


Second Half
Pfeiffer would start the second half with eight unanswered goals to go up 16-5 and cruised the rest of the way in taking the 18-8 win.

Stat Leaders
Bourque led the way for Pfeiffer with six goals and three assists.  She also caused one turnover and controlled two ground balls. Junior Gabby Bosak had four goals and one assist while Hailey Metzger contributed three goals and an assists.  Kaley Hyatt scored twice and had an assist while Alyson Hanlon, Startraya Galloway and Miranda Walton each scored one goal in the win.

Amber Briggs earner her first collegiate win as a goalkeeper, making four saves on the afternoon while her counterpart from NCWC, Izabella Espoile alloed 18 goals while making 12 saves.

The Falcons will embark on a USA South road swing when they head to Huntingdon on March 14 and to LaGrange on March 15.
