Misenheimer, N.C. (March 22, 2021) – The Pfeiffer University women's lacrosse team won their home opener on Saturday afternoon, defeating visiting Huntingdon College 11-6 at Lefko Field

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
After spotting Huntingdon an early 2-0 lead, Pfeiffer used a pair of Gabby Bosak goals and a goal from Alyson Hanlon to take the 3-2 lead. Huntingdon would tie the game at 3-3 at the 13:38 mark, but the Falcons closed the half with three goals, one from senior Meredith Manson, a man-up goal from freshman Julia Barbato and closed the half with a goal from sophomore Alexis Murriel, taking the 6-3 lead into halftime.
Second Half
After Huntingdon opened the scoring in the second half to close to 6-4, Pfeiffer went on a four-goal run using goals from Starnice Galloway and three consecutive goals from Manson. The latter being a man-down goal, making the score 10-4.
Huntingdon would get a pair of goals to make it 10-6, but Bosak added the final goal with seven seconds to play to provide the 11-6 final.
Inside the Box Score
All told, Manson finished with a team-best four goals on the afternoon to go along with six ground balls. Bosak would tally three goals while Murriel and Tracy Torrez each had a pair of assists in the win.
Freshman Jordan Pendergraft earned the win in goal, as she made 11 saves on the afternoon.
