Torrez and Bragg Shine as Pfeiffer Women's Lacrosse Downs Brevard

Misenheimer, N.C. (March 24, 2021) – Junior Tracy Torrez and Sophomore Ashley Bragg had career nights as the Pfeiffer University women's lacrosse team defeated visiting Brevard in a USA South game at Lefko Field on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half
Pfeiffer started quickly in the first half, scoring the first three goals of the game, with junior Tracy Torrez (Orlando, Fla.) scoring at the 25:50 mark.  Senior Starnice Galloway (Winston-Salem, N.C.) found the net for the next two Falcon scores.  Brevard cut the lead to 3-2, but the Falcons reeled off four straight scores to close the half.  Alexis Murriel (Gastonia, N.C.), Torrez, and Meredith Manson (Auburndale, Fla.) all scored to provide the 7-2 halftime cushion.
 

Second Half
At the beginning of the second half, the teams alternated goals throughout the first six minutes, to make the score 9-4, but Pfeiffer got a four goal spurt to increase the lead to 13.  In that span, Torrez and Ashley Bragg (Dallas, Ga.) each scored two goals each, with the latter goal by Torrez being on a man-up opportunity.

After a Brevard goal at 16:22, junior Morgan Cecil (St. Cloud, Fla.) scored on an assist from Torrez, followed by another Torrez goal at 8:29, her fifth of the game.  Bragg closed the scoring for the Falcons after she received a pass from senior A'Mya McClain (Hickory, N.C.), boosting the lead to 16-5.  Brevard did add a goal at 2:31 to provide the 16-6 final.

Inside the Box Score
Torrez finished the game with five goals and three assists, both career highs.  Bragg also scored a career high four goals in the win.
