Pfeiffer Women's Lacrosse Takes Road Win at Huntingdon, 15-11

The Pfeiffer University women's lacrosse team used a balanced attack to win a 15-11 USA South road game at Huntingdon College on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED


First Half

Pfeiffer started fast, jumping out to a 3-0 lead on a goal from freshman Julia Barbato (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and a pair of goals from Ashley Bragg (Dallas, Ga.)

Huntington broke the Falcon scoring streak making it 3-1, but Starnice Galloway (Winston-Salem, N.C.) scored on an assist from Alexis Murriel (Gastonia, N.C.) to go up 4-1.

Pfeiffer then extended their lead to 7-2 on another pair goals from Bragg sandwiched around a score from senior Gabby Bosak (Charleston, S.C.).

Second Half
Pfeiffer lead 11-5 at halftime and got a Murriel unassisted goal to begin the second half, making it 12-5.  The Hawks scored the next two goals, but Pfeiffer then responded with a pair of goals, the first from sophomore Alyson Hanlon (Summerfield, N.C.) and another from Bosak.

Huntingdon trimmed the Pfeiffer lead to 14-9 at the 11:35 mark, but Pfeiffer would get a Bosak goal at 10:31 to go up 15-9.

Huntingdon then scored the last two goals of the game to provide the 15-11 final

Inside the Box Score
Alexis Murriel had five points for the Falcons, scoring twice while adding three assists.  Bosak and Bragg each had four goals in the win while Galloway finished with a pair of goals and one assist.

All told, six Falcons scored goals on the afternoon.

Freshman goalkeeper
Jordan Pendergraft (Apex, N.C.) made 15 saves on the afternoon to earn the win.


Up Next

The Falcons will return to play at home on Saturday, April 17 with a 1:00 p.m. USA South game against Piedmont at Lefko Field.
