Pfeiffer Women's Tennis Takes 8-1 Win at Mary Baldwin

Staunton, Va. (April 17, 2021) – The Pfeiffer University women's tennis team traveled to Staunton, Va. winning an 8-1 USA South match over Mary Baldwin University on Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS
Pfeiffer took all three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches on the afternoon.

In doubles, the duo of Anna Branson and Elithe Hudson dispatched their opponent at No. 1 by an 8-1 score.  At No. 2, Darby Sherrill and Sydney Honeycutt had an easy time in an 8-0.  At No. 3 Charlotte Craven and Ruth Fallen won their match, 8-1.

In singles, Pfeiffer won the matches at Nos. 1-4, all by 6-0, 6-0 scores.  Hudson took her match at No. 5 by a 6-1, 6-0 count.

MBU got their lone point at No. 6, with Helen Gutierrez downing Pfeiffer's Taylor Brashears by an 8-4 score.

Pfeiffer will entertain William Peace University on Tuesday afternoon, April 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Knapp Tennis Center.
