Strange's Gem Lifts Pfeiffer Softball to a Split at Ferrum
Ferrum, Va. (March 19, 2022) – Freshman
Haley Strange pitched a gem in game two of a nonconference doubleheader at Ferrum, helping the Falcons win 4-0 to salvage a split on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened – Game 1
Ferrum plated seven runs in the home half of the first inning to take the early 7-0 lead. Pfeiffer did manage to cut into the Panther lead in the fourth inning when
Hannah Tyner (Carthage, N.C.) reached on a fielder's choice that scored
Emma Chopko (Mooresville, N.C.) from third base.
Emma Bullin (Ararat, N.C.) would provide an RBI single in the fifth inning to pull the Falcons to within 7-2. The Falcons would cut the lead to 7-3 in the sixth inning when a
Kyndell Warren (Lenoir, N.C.) groundout would score Tyner from third.
Ferrum would then go ahead 8-3 in the home half of the sixth on a sacrifice fly.
Pfeiffer would add another run in the seventh inning on a
Maddie Hinson (Norwood, N.C.) sacrifice fly that would score Chopko from third. That would be the closest Pfeiffer would get, with Ferrum taking game one by an 8-4 score.
Game 2
In game two, freshman
Haley Strange (Salisbury, N.C.) handcuffed the Ferrum batters by scattering six hits over 6.1 innings of work while striking out six.Â
Ashlynn Kennedy (New London, N.C.) combined for the shutout by recording the final two outs of the game.
Warren provided the offensive spark the Falcons needed, as she had an RBI single in the first and would also score on a Ferrum error in the first to give Pfeiffer the 2-0 lead.
Kennedy laced an RBI double in the second inning to push the Pfeiffer lead to 3-0. Chopko singled to center field to drive in the fourth Falcon run, also in the second inning to give the Falcons the 4-0 lead that would last the distance.
