Emma Chopko (Mooresville, N.C.), fellow freshman
Gracie Griffin (Calabash, N.C.) singled to center field to draw the Falcons to 4-1
Pfeiffer's
Mattie Hinson (Norwood, N.C.) then hit an RBI single to right field to trim the lead to 4-2 and senior
Caiti Mickles (Boonville, N.C.) had an RBI single of her own to cut the lead to 4-3.
The game would end on a Pfeiffer squeeze play attempt that was popped up to the Ferrum first baseman, who then threw to second base for the double play to end the Falcon threat, sealing the 4-3 win for the Panthers.
Game 2
In game two, Pfeiffer manufactured a run in the top of the eighth inning to take the 2-1 lead.
Bridgewater scored first in the fourth with a solo homer, but Griffin had a solo shot of her own in the fifth inning to knot the game at 1-1, a score that would last into the eighth inning.
Using the international tiebreaker with a runner starting on second base, the Falcons were able to move the runner to third on a groundout by
Hannah Tyner (Carthage, N.C.). Freshman
Emma Bullin (Ararat, N.C.) picked up and RBI on her groundout to second base to put Pfeiffer up 2-1.Â
Ashlynn Kennedy (New London, N.C.) would then ground out to end the inning
In the home half of the eighth with one out Kennedy allowed a hard-hit grounder up the middle. Pfeiffer's Bullin made a backhanded diving grab and flipped to shortstop Warren who was covering second. Warren's throw to first then hit the Panther runner, who was ruled out via interference, ending the game with the Falcons winning 2-1.
