Murriel Sets Record in Women's Lacrosse Loss to SVU
Misenheimer, N.C. (April 9, 2022) – The Pfeiffer University women's lacrosse team fell to league-leading Southern Virginia in a hard-fought game by a 12-8 final at N.E. Lefko Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Despite giving up six unanswered goals to start the game, Pfeiffer clawed back with three straight goals in the second quarter.Â
Alexis Murriel scored her 19
th of the season on an unassisted goal at 11:33. Freshman
Analise Robinson notched her 18
th of the season at 10:13, also an unassisted score to bring Pfeiffer to 6-2.
Sophomore
Julia Barbato got an assist from fellow sophomore
Chloe Johnson at 3:58 to close to 6-3. SVU would score the final goal of the second quarter at 3:42 to provide the 7-3 halftime margin.
Robinson would open the scoring in the third to draw to 7-4 on a man-down goal, but SVU then scored three consecutive goals to distance themselves from the Falcons 10-4.
Ashley Bragg would score on a Murriel assist at 2:40 of the third quarter to pull to 10-5.
SVU would get the first score of the fourth quarter, but Pfeiffer would score the next three goals, from Robinson, Murriel and Barbato to make it 11-8. SVU would get the final goal of the game with 22 seconds remaining to provide the 12-8 final.
Inside the Box Score
Robinson led the way with three goals and an assist while Murriel notched two scores to go along with her one assist. Barbato would score twice on the afternoon with Bragg scoring one goal.
Murriel would finish with eight caused turnovers, breaking the old Pfeiffer program mark of seven that was held by three former Falcons. Murriel also finished with a team-best eight ground ball pickups in the loss.
Pfeiffer goalkeeper
Jordan Pendergraft made 10 saves for the Falcons between the pipes, which gives her 194 for her career, which moves her to fifth all-time in career saves.
