Pfeiffer Women's Lacrosse Ends Season With Setback at Piedmont in USA South Tournament
Demorest, Ga. (May 3, 2023) – The sixth-seeded Pfeiffer University women's lacrosse dropped an 18-9 decision at No. 3 Piedmont on Tuesday night in the first round of the USA South women's lacrosse tournament

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions and Falcons opened the game with each team scoring a pair of goals in the first five minutes of play. Piedmont opened with a score at 12:37, but Pfeiffer's
Analise Robinson scored 15 seconds later on an unassisted goal at 12:22.
Robinson then scored at 10:26 to tie the game once more at 2-2.
Piedmont then closed the first quarter with five unanswered and started the second quarter with a score to jump ahead 9-2.
Julia Barbato's goal at 11:28 made it 9-3, but Piedmont again went on a scoring spurt, this time with four goals to close the half, taking a 13-3 lead into halftime.
Piedmont then opened the third quarter with a goal at 13:06, but Pfeiffer put together three straight goals, one each by Barbato and Robinson followed by a player-up goal from freshman
Ana Satchell to pull to 14-6 with 4:56 left in the third quarter.
The Lions would tack on three more to close the third quarter, in taking the 17-6 lead into the fourth.
Skyla Jo Charette would notch a pair of unassisted goals to start the fourth quarter to make it 17-8. Piedmont got their last goal of the game at 4:57 on a player-down goal to go up 18-8. Robinson provided the final goal of the game at 3:18 for Pfeiffer, her 69
th of the season to provide the 18-9 final.

Jordan Pendergraft made nine saves on the game and in the process, broke the Pfeiffer season record for saves, which was previously 168 set in 2004 by Pfeiffer Hall of Famer Kammie Studley. Pendergraft made 177 saves during this past season.
