Pfeiffer def. LaGrange, 8-0 (Five innings)
MISENHEIMER, N.C. (March 2, 2024) - The Pfeiffer University softball team ran their winning streak to 10 games following dominant pitching performances on Saturday in a doubleheader sweep of LaGrange College
In game one, senior Kali Morton was dealing, as she hurled a one-hit shutout to lead the Pfeiffer Falcons over the LaGrange Panthers 8-0 in five innings.
Morton (5-0) went the distance for Pfeiffer (9-0), giving up one hit, walking none and striking out 10.
Junior Kenzi Lyall led the way offensively for the Falcons, going 1-for-1 in the ballgame with a home run, two walks and an RBI. Lyall's homer was her first of the season and came in tehf irst at-bat of the game.
Junior Emma Bullin put together a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Freshman Emily Dickerson also contributed, going 1-for-3 for Pfeiffer with two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Kenzi Lyall hit a lead-off homer in the first to put the Falcons up 1-0. Pfeiffer then scored two more runs in the frame on a two-RBI double from Bullin.
The Falcons then tacked on runs in the fourth and fifth innings, with their biggest output coming in the fourth when they scored four times. The big hit in that inning was a two-run single off the bat of Dickerson.

In game two, Lyall and Bullin combined to toss a shutout as Pfeiffer took game two by the 5-0 score.
Lyall (5-0) started and picked up the win for Pfeiffer (10-0), throwing five shutout innings while scattering four hits, walking one, and striking out four. In relief, Bullin tossed a pair of shutout innings, allowing just two hits, walking none and striking out one.
Junior Emma Chopko led the way offensively for the Falcons, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame with a double, a home run and three RBI. Lyall went 2-for-3 with an RBI. and junior Jaci Cook also helped out, going 1-for-2 for Pfeiffer with a double and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons took the lead for good in the third when Chopko hit her second homer of the season with Lyall aboard, giving Pfeiffer the 2-0 lead.
The Falcons then tacked on runs in the fourth and fifth innings, with their biggest output coming in the fourth when they scored twice. The key hit in the two-run frame was an RBI double from Chopko.
