Dominant Pitching and McHone's Blast Lift No. 20 Pfeiffer to Home Sweep of Randolph


GAME 1
No. 20 Pfeiffer 3, Randolph 1

MISENHEIMER, N.C. (March 7, 2024) --Senior Kali Morton was mowing people down on Thursday, striking out 14 Randolph hitters over seven innings of work to help lead the No. 20 Pfeiffer Falcons over the WildCats 3-1.

In addition to her 14 strikeouts, Morton (4-0) threw a complete game seven innings, giving up one run on four hits while walking none for Pfeiffer (11-0).

Junior Kenzi Lyall led the way offensively for the Falcons, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a home run, a walk and an RBI. Junior Gracie Griffin compiled a standout performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a double. Junior Emma Chopko also helped out, going 1-for-3 for Pfeiffer with a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the third inning. Lyall put Pfeiffer on the board with a one-out solo home run off senior Emily Morris.

After the WildCats rallied to tie the ballgame at one, the Falcons came back to retake the lead in the sixth inning. Pfeiffer managed to push across two runs in the inning, which brought the score to 3-1 in favor of the Falcons. The score remained 3-1 for the rest of the game, as Pfeiffer held on for the win.

Junior Kenzi Lyall was also dominate in the circle throwing a four-hit shutout to lead the No. 20 Pfeiffer Falcons over the Randolph WildCats 11-0 in six innings in game two.

Lyall (6-0) went the distance for Pfeiffer (12-0), giving up four hits, walking none and striking out four.

In the batter's box, the Falcons were led by Lyall, who went 3-for-4 on the day with a double, a home run and an RBI. Senior Ellie McHone furnished a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with a home run and four RBI. Junior Gracie Griffin also contributed for Pfeiffer, putting together two hits in two trips to the plate while adding a double and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Pfeiffer scored twice in the inning, including one on a solo shot from Lyall.

The Falcons then tacked on runs in the third, fourth, and sixth innings, with their biggest output coming in the sixth when they scored four times. A grand slam from McHone off freshman Delaney Sipes cashed in all of those four runs in the frame.
