GAME 1
No. 16 Pfeiffer def. North Carolina Wesleyan, 4-0

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (April 2, 2024) - Senior Kali Morton hurled a two-hit shutout to lead the Pfeiffer Falcons past the North Carolina Wesleyan Battling Bishops 4-0 in game one of a USA South doubleheader at Edge Field.

Morton (11-0) went the distance for Pfeiffer (25-0, 5-0), giving up two hits, walking one and striking out 12.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Kenzi Lyall put Pfeiffer on the board with a leadoff home run off sophomore M. Aycock.

The Falcons then tacked on runs in the sixth and seventh innings, with their biggest output coming in the seventh when they scored two times. Abby Yarboro and Lyall came in to score those two runs in the frame.

GAME NOTES

» Morton tossed a two-hit shutout for the Falcons.
» Morton struck out 12 Battling Bishops hitters.
» Pfeiffer's highest scoring inning was the seventh, when it pushed two runs across.

In game two Pfeiffer Falcons were not able to score a run against North Carolina Wesleyan pitching saw their program-best 25 game winning-streak stopped by the Battling Bishops, falling 1-0

Emma Bullin fell to 5-1 on the season in the circle while Kenzi Lyall started the game and tossed five shutout innings, allowing two hits, with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Offensively, the Falcons were paced by junior Emma Chopko, who went 2-for-3 on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Pfeiffer did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Falcons went 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the second, when freshman Rileigh Dalton made it into scoring position with one out.
