ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (Oct. 24, 2025) — Visiting Pfeiffer University overcame a slow start to defeat N.C. Wesleyan 3-1 (17-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-17) in a USA South Conference volleyball match on Friday evening at Everett Gymnasium.
After dropping the opening set, Pfeiffer (12-13, 6-7 USA South) bounced back with a dominant offensive display, led by
Abby Lewis, who tallied a match-high 17 kills and added six digs and two blocks.
Madison Tate was equally impressive, hitting .526 with 12 kills and two solo blocks in just three sets played.
Setter
Karmen Rion orchestrated the attack with 22 assists, while
Kelsey Hussey contributed 24 assists, four digs, and a service ace.
Gabi Gama anchored the defense with 28 digs, while
Gabby Edwards added 22 digs and a service ace.
Pfeiffer rebounded in the second set with a .300 hitting percentage, outpacing the Bishops (9-17, 1-12 USA South), who struggled to maintain momentum after their strong start. Pfeiffer's defense held N.C. Wesleyan to a .092 hitting percentage for the match, including a low of .043 in the third set.
Haedyn McGrath chipped in 10 kills with a stellar .300 hitting percentage, and
Faith Miller added three kills, a service ace, and four points overall.
N.C. Wesleyan was led by Ashley Hinton, who posted 18 kills and 10 digs, while Emilee Wilson dished out 36 assists and recorded 17 digs.
The Falcons will return to Merner Gym for their next USA South match, taking on Brevard College at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28.
