Pfeiffer Volleyball Splits With Greensboro and JWU

Misenheimer, N.C. (OCt. 4, 2025) — Pfeiffer University bounced back from a 3-0 loss to conference leader Greensboro with a dominant sweep of Johnson & Wales Charlotte on Saturday at Merner Gym.

In the afternoon match, Pfeiffer (7-10, 3-4 USA South) overpowered JWU Charlotte (5-12, 1-0 CAC) in straight sets, 25-20, 25-21, 25-18. The Falcons were led by senior Madison Tate, who posted a match-high 10 kills with a blistering .667 hitting percentage, and junior Gabi Gama, who added 10 kills, eight digs, and three aces.

Junior setter Karmen Rion orchestrated the offense with 23 assists, while Abby Lewis contributed eight kills and four digs. Pfeiffer's aggressive serving proved pivotal, tallying 11 aces, including three from Rion and three from Gama.

The Falcons held JWU Charlotte to a .205 hitting percentage, with the Wildcats struggling to find rhythm after a strong first set. Pfeiffer's defense, led by 37 digs and two team blocks, kept the visiting Wildcats at bay.

Earlier in the day, Pfeiffer fell to USA South-leading Greensboro College (11-2, 7-0 USA South) in a league match, dropping three tightly contested sets, all by a scores of 25-20.

Despite the loss, Abby Lewis stood out with 10 kills, while Tate added six kills and a team-high five blocks.

Greensboro's Payton Shiflet led all players with 18 kills, helping the Pride maintain their unblemeshed conference mark.

The Falcons will jump back into USA South play on Wednesday, Oct. 7 with a home match against Methodist University at 7:00 p.m. in Merner Gym.
