Falcons Sweep Monarchs in Dominant Home Performance

Misenheimer, N.C. (Oct. 8, 2025)  — Pfeiffer University delivered a commanding performance on Wednesday night, sweeping Methodist University in straight sets (25-20, 25-15, 25-20) in a USA South volleyball match at Merner Gym.

The Falcons improved to 8-10 overall and 4-4 in USA South play, showcasing balanced offense and stout defense in front of a lively crowd of 150.

Pfeiffer controlled the tempo from the opening serve, with standout performances from junior Gabi Gama and senior Haedyn McGrath, who each tallied 9 and 8 kills respectively. Gama also added a service ace and 9 digs, while McGrath contributed 4 blocks and a .286 hitting percentage, leading the team in efficiency.

Junior setter Karmen Rion orchestrated the offense with precision, dishing out 17 assists and adding 12 digs and 2 service aces. Senior Faith Miller anchored the net with 6 total blocks and 5 kills, while fellow senior Madison Tate chipped in 4 kills and 2 blocks.

Defensively, the Falcons were relentless, recording 55 digs and 9 total blocks. Senior libero Gabby Edwards led the back row with 10 digs, while sophomore Molly Wright added 11 more to keep rallies alive.

Pfeiffer's attack improved steadily across the match, hitting .088 in the first set, .176 in the second, and .200 in the third. The Falcons out-hit Methodist .161 to .094 overall and held the Monarchs to just 15 points in the second set, their lowest of the night.

The Falcons will return to USA South play on Thursday Oct. 9 with a road trip to Mary Baldwin University.  First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in Staunton, Va.
