Methodist Downs Pfeiffer Volleyball, 3-0
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (Nov. 4, 2025) — Methodist University defeated Pfeiffer University in straight sets (25-17, 25-21, 25-18) Tuesday night at the Riddle Center.
Pfeiffer (14-15, 8-9 USA South) struggled to find offensive rhythm, hitting just .147 as a team.
Madison Tate led the Falcons with nine kills and three blocks, while
Gabi Gama added seven kills and 11 digs. Setter
Karmen Rion contributed 14 assists and seven digs, and
Gabby Edwards anchored the defense with a match-high 18 digs.
Despite a competitive second set that featured six ties and four lead changes, Pfeiffer couldn't overcome Methodist's balanced attack. Methodist (15-14, 10-7 USA South) was paced by Jamie Holton's 15 kills and
Savannah Hovander's nine kills and one solo block. Faith Driver dished out 20 assists and added two service aces.
Pfeiffer's lone service ace came from Gama in the second set, while the team committed five service errors and seven ball-handling errors across the match. Methodist capitalized on those miscues and hit .294 overall, including a .406 clip in the opening set.
The Falcons will return to Merner Gym for their regular-season finale on Saturday, Nov. 8. First serve against USA South foe Mary Baldwin is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Prior to the match, Pfeiffer will honor five seniors on Senior Day.
