Pfeiffer Women's Lacrosse Wins First Game of the Season, 13-11 Over Sweet Briar
Misenheimer, N.C. (Feb. 27, 2025) – The Pfeiffer University women's lacrosse team earned their first win of the season by defeating Sweet Briar College 13-11 on Thursday afternoon at a rainy Lefko-Mills Field

HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling down 2-0, Pfeiffer scored three unanswered goals to take the 3-2 lead. SBC then tied the game at 3-3 with 2:50 left in the first quarter, but Pfeiffer netted a goal with 47 seconds remaining to take the 4-3 lead.
Pfeiffer then outscored the Vixens 4-1 in the second quarter to take the 8-4 halftime lead.
Sweet Briar opened the third quarter with a pair of scores to trim Pfeiffer's lead to 8-6.Â
Skyla Jo Charette the scored at 11:35 to put Pfeiffer up 9-6. The two teams then alternated goals for the remainder of the quarter, with
Khamani Spencer capping the quarter with an unassisted goal at 2:45 to put Pfieffer up 11-8.
Cerys Reid opened the fourth quarter with a score to go up 12-9, but SBC closed to 12-10 with a scores at 10:38 and 9:55. Charette then tallied a score at 5:34 to go up 13-10. SBC had the last goal of the game to provide the 13-11 final.

Cerys Reid had a breakout game by scoring six goals and supplying an assist, finishing with seven points. Charette added three goals and one assist while
Reagan Martinez had two scores and one assist. Martinez' first goal of the game at the 7:12 mark of the second quarter was her first career goal. Martinez also led Pfeiffer with six draw controls.
Pfeiffer caused 22 turnovers, with
Emma LaFave coming away with five on the game while teammate
Khamani Spencer leading the way with five ground balls.
