Pfeiffer Sweeps Brevard in Straight Sets Behind Tate's Dominant Performance
Brevard, N.C. (Sept. 30, 2025) — Senior
Madison Tate led Pfeiffer University with 12 kills and a .421 hitting percentage as the Falcons swept Brevard College 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-21) Tuesday evening at Boshamer Gymnasium in USA South Conference play.
Pfeiffer (6-9, 3-3 USA South) controlled the match from start to finish, outpacing Brevard (3-12, 1-3) in kills (38-29), service aces (8-4), and digs (69-58). The Falcons hit .169 as a team and held the Tornados to just a .089 clip.
Tate was supported by fellow senior
Haedyn McGrath and sophomoreÂ
Anasty Faavesi, who combined for 14 kills and three blocks. Junior setter
Karmen Rion dished out 18 assists and added nine digs, while senior libero
Gabby Edwards anchored the back row with 17 digs and three service aces.
Pfeiffer pulled away late in each set, including a nine-tie third frame that saw the Falcons close on a 6-2 run. The Falcons recorded three blocks and eight aces overall, with
Molly Wright and Edwards each contributing multiple aces.
Caroline Moon led Brevard with 13 kills and 11 digs, while Izzy Boulay tallied 18 assists. The Tornados struggled with errors, committing 18 attack errors and nine service errors.
The Falcons will return to Merner Gym this upcoming weekend for a tri-match, hosting rival Greensboro College in a USA South match at Noon followed by a nonconference match with Johnson & Wales at 4:00 p.m.
