Box Score MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Pfeiffer baseball team (26-20) dropped its regular season finale to Lander (22-26) by a final score of 7-4 at Joe Ferebee Field. Izzy Perez smacked his 13th home run of the season as the Falcons now turn their attention to the Conference Tournament.
Cole McGraw went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI's and also pitched in the ninth inning for the Falcons. Perez also recorded two hits as the duo combined for half of Pfeiffer's eight hits on the day.
Drew Wilson was saddled with the loss on the mound. Pfeiffer pieced together eight different pitchers with none throwing longer than two innings.
Lander scored three runs in the second inning and three runs in the fourth inning to take a 7-1 advantage. The Falcons threatened late in the game and cut the deficit to 7-4. Pfeiffer had the bases loaded and one out in the ninth inning but the rally ended with just one run crossing the pate on a sacrifice fly.
The Falcons now look forward to the opener of the 2015 Conference Carolinas Tournament. For the second consecutive season, Pfeiffer will enter as the No. 3 seed and play the No. 4 seed in the tournament's opening game. The Falcons and Tornado will battle on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the double elimination tournament.
