Jackson's Three Goals Helps In a 3-3 Draw

Quentin Reed - Sports Information Graduate Assistant

MISENHEIMER, NC – After being down two goals, the Pfeiffer (1-3-1) women's soccer team played the Barton Bulldogs (2-1-1) to a 3-3 tie on Tuesday afternoon at N.E. Lefko Field.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard in the 12th minute as Emily Futral dribbled through the Falcons defense and passed it to teammate Emily Batchelor who streaked down the right side of the field to fire a shot by junior goalkeeper Kate Halligan.

In the 22nd minute of play, Futral shook off a few Falcons defenders to put a shot on goal that got by the Halligan, making it 2-0.

Down 2-0 in the first half, the Falcons weren't ready to throw in the towel because in the 28th minute Katlyn Stevens controlled a ball that was played wide and served cross to Aaliyah Jackson who was 20 yards away to cut the lead to 2-1.

The Falcons came right back in the 31st minute as Brae Buster got loose and sent another cross ball to a wide open  Jackson who got behind the Bulldogs defense, tying it up at two goals apiece.

The senior Jackson wasn't finished with her barrage of scoring as she came out in the second half and scored another goal in the 57th minute when the Falcons stole a throw in from Barton and Marcy Santana sent a through ball to Jackson and and the senior forward poked it by goalkeeper Kelsey Rothwell to tally her third goal of the day.

After a Pfeiffer foul in the 87th minute, Bulldog Della Futral took a free kick that went right over the outstretched hands of backup Falcon goalkeeper Deidre Gilley, tying it again at three.

The Falcons and Bulldogs played two scoreless overtime sessions not being able to score on one another and ending the day in a 3-3 draw.

On the day, Aaliyah Jackson had three goals, moving her into third in Falcons history with 33 goals and past Rachell McDonald ('03). Her six points on the day ties her for sixth all-time with 70 points with Kirsten Barsch ('09).

The Falcons return to action on Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. as they travel to Limestone in a Conference Carolinas match.
