MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The accolades keep rolling in for the Pfeiffer men's soccer team. In the national rankings, Pfeiffer has moved up seven spots and are ranked No. 4 in the nation according to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Additionally, Jaime Siaj has been named the NSCAA Division II National Men's Soccer Player of the Week as he led the team to a 2-1 victory at No. 6 Limestone.
Siaj scored both of Pfeiffer's goals in the dramatic overtime victory at Limestone on Saturday evening. The sophomore forward also added a goal against Barton in the Falcons 3-1 victory last Wednesday and has recorded at least one goal in each of the six matches this season. Jaime currently ranks first in the nation in shots on goal per game (3.83) and is fourth in the nation with eight goals scored.
Pfeiffer is ranked inside the top-10 for the first time in the Division II era (1995-current). The Falcons 6-0 start is the best since becoming a Division II member 20 years ago and the team is 18-2-1 over their last 21 matches.
Two weeks ago, Pfeiffer narrowly entered the top-25 as they ranked 25th in the nation. After a 2-0 week, the Falcons vaulted up to No. 11 in the nation and set up a big showdown with the No. 6 Limestone Saints. The win sent Pfeiffer into the top-5 and dropped Limestone to No. 12 in the nation.
Pfeiffer only trails the University of Charleston, Midwestern St. University and Seattle Pacific University in the rankings. They look to continue their torrid start this weekend as they host Lees-McRae.
