SUMTER, S.C. – The Pfeiffer Falcons (13-6) men's tennis team swept Lees-McRae (2-14) by the score of 5-0 as they now advance to the semifinal round behind the play of Oscar Van Koch. The senior picked up a victories in singles and doubles to lead the Falcons past the Bobcats.
In singles, Van Koch defeated Gabriel Muniz , 6-0, 6-2 in the second position. Axel Woerner defeated Sebastian Zuhr, 6-4, 6-0 in the third position. Thomas Hubble edged Thomas Deeley, 6-0, 6-3 out of the fifth position.
From doubles earlier in the day, Pfeiffer swept all three matches as Nils Hoffacker and Woerner defeated Muniz and Araujo, 8-4 in the first position. In the second position, Van Koch and Bjorn Barwinski defeated Garrett Lakey and Zuhur, 8-2. Hubble and Anthony Brennan defeated the team of Thomas Deely and Cole Douglas-Field 8-7 (8-6).
The Falcons return to action Saturday as they face the Limestone Saints at 12 noon for semifinal action.
