Women's Soccer Blanked by Greensboro

MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- On a warm and sunny Saturday afternoon, the Pfeiffer women's soccer team (8-6) dropped a tough 1-0 decision at home against Greensboro (14-2) in the final home match of the season. Greensboro owns the best overall winning percentage in the USA South an ran their winning streak to four straight. 

Pfeiffer was playing minus two starters but battled against the Pride. Greensboro held a 17-10 advantage in shots on the day but Pfeiffer had the upper hand in corner kicks, taking four of the five corners in the match. Greensboro was whistled for 14 of the 19 fouls during the contest.

Pfeiffer's Kaley Hyatt recorded nine saves and now has 74 stops on the season. 

The Pride got on the scoreboard in the 82nd minute when Madison Karch found Anna Rae Porcelli who fired her shot past the diving Hyatt for the lone tally of the game. 

Cayci Eaton recorded four of Pfeiffer's 10 shots on the game and put two on frame. Gabby Bosak and Maggie Walker each had two shots. 

Today marked the fifth time this year that the Falcons were held scoreless.

Pfeiffer ends its 2017 campaign with a 3-3 mark at home. They will hit the road for their final two matches of the season. 

Up next for the Falcons is a trip to Meredith on Wednesday night for a 6 p.m. match. Earlier this season, Pfeiffer lost a 1-0 match at Meredith on Sept. 9.
