Box Score Eaton Scores Twice In Pfeiffer's 4-1 Road Win at Methodist
Fayetteville, N.C. (Sept. 28, 2019) – Junior forward Cayci Eaton netted two goals as the Pfeiffer University women's soccer team downed Methodist 4-1 on Saturday evening at the Monarch SoccerPlex in Fayetteville, N.C.
The Falcons fell into an early 1-0 hole when Methodist got a goal at the 3:35 mark from Laura Harris. The Monarch lead would last until the 31:01 mark when Eaton netted her fourth score of the season, knotting the match at 1-1. Teammate Kelsy Esquivel (Charlotte, N.C.) scored her fourth goal 11 minutes later to put Pfeiffer up 2-1.
A little over a minute later Pfeiffer struck again, this time off the foot of sophomore Mackenzie Pruitt (Havelock, N.C.), staking the Falcons to a 3-1 halftime lead.
Eaton would close the scoring in the 72nd minute on an assist from Gabby Bosak (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) to provide the eventual 4-1 final.
As a team, Pfeiffer dominated the Monarchs offensively, outshooting the hosts 21-9 while earning eight corner kicks on the match.
Senior goalkeeper Kaley Hyatt (St. Cloud, Fla.) returned five saves for the Falcons, who improved to 5-3 on the season and 1-0 in USA South play.
Pfeiffer will next play on Tuesday, Oct. 1 with a road matchup with William Peace. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Raleigh, N.C.
