Pfeiffer Women's Lacrosse Trounces Greensboro 14-1
Misenheimer, N.C. (March 23, 2022) – The Pfeiffer University women's lacrosse team jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first half and never looked back in a 14-1 USA South win over rival Greensboro at a rainy Lefko Field on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The home standing Falcons scored the first five goals of the game and limited Greensboro to a single score en routh to the 14-1 USA South win.Â
Pfeiffer scored twice in the opening quarter with senior
Tracy Torrez (Orlando, Fla.) opening the game with a score, her third of the season, at 10:16. Freshman
Analise Robinson (Winston-Salem, N.C.) made it 2-0 at 5:58 on an assist from sophomore
Julia Barbato (West Palm Beach, Fla.).
The Falcons extended the lead to 5-0 in the second quarter with a man-down goal from junior
Alexis Murriel (Gastonia, N.C.) and score from Barbato. Murriel would race to get her second of the game with one second before the horn to give the Falcons the 5-0 lead at the break. All three scores in the second quarter were unassisted.
The Pride got their lone goal of the game in the third quarter, when Rosanna Espinosa-Ponce scored at 13:44 on an assist from Cassie Hinds.
Barbato responded with a goal and 12:05 and provided an assist on an
Ashley Bragg (Dallas, Ga.) goal at 8:46 that put the Falcons up 7-1.
Two more man-down goals for Pfeiffer made it 9-1, with sophomore
Chloe Johnson (Fort Mill, S.C.) scoring her third of the year, and Torrez adding her second of the game.
Barbato and Murriel scored back-to-back goals to close the third quarter, giving Pfeiffer the 11-1 advantage.
Torrez would add another goal at 14:41 of the fourth quarter and Barbato tallied two additional goals in the quarter to provide the 14-1 final.
Inside the Box Score
All told, Barbato finished with five goals and two assists while Torrez and Murriel each had three scores. Murriel also dished a team-best three assists. Murriel also had a team-high nine ground balls and caused five Greensboro turnovers.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Jordan Pendergraft (Apex, N.C.) logged four saves on the afternoon in earning the win.
