| Misenheimer, NC---Pfeiffer defeated Limestone 1-0 in the 1st round of the CVAC women's soccer tournament Tuesday afternoon. Michelle Vaudreuil scored the games' only goal with under twelve minutes to go in the first half and the Falcon defense played well to secure a birth in the semis. Pfeiffer will now play at 12:00 pm on Friday against the winner of Queens versus Lees-McRae. The game will be played at Mount Olive. Both teams played a hard physical game (34 total fouls) that held few real good scoring chances. Pfeiffer had the first opportunity in the 17th minute when Ashley Hawkins broke past the Saint defense but her shot went just wide left of the goal. In the 21st minute Katrina Salem dribbled around her defenders and got off a nice cross to Laura Crews but Crews' header was just wide right. Th Falcons got on thew board with 11:33 to go until half when Vaudreuil took a pass from Megan Blevins and launched a shot from 25 yards out to the left of the goal. The ball went off the far post and in for a 1-0 Falcon lead. Limestone did not have a shot in the first half. Limestone, down one, came out more offensively in the second half and were rewarded with several scoring chances. In the 49th minute the Saints blasted one from 15 yards that went wide left by a couple of feet. In the 57th minute a Saint forward cut back, beat the Falcon defender but her shot from 20 yards out was wide again. The best Saint scoring chance came in the 79th minute. After a nice cross the saint player put the ball past the diving Falcon goalie but the ball rolled wide by inches. Pfeiffer worked hard and several chances in the second half but all were easily saved by the Saint goalie. Limestone had one final chance in the last minute but the cross off a corner kick was grabbed by Falcon goalie Jennifer Lindow and Pfeiffer had the victory.
