CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Limestone College scored five unanswered goals including all four in the fourth quarter to score a 9-5 win over Pfeiffer University in the 2012 Conference Carolinas tournament championship game for the second-consecutive season. The tournament's top seed and fourth-ranked nationally Saints improve to 14-1 overall while the second-seeded and 11th-ranked Falcons fall to 11-6.
Pfeiffer registered the lone first quarter goal as Justin Rose hit from Kory Lutes with 1:22 to play. Tucker Hammock would tally the first second quarter goal on an assist from James Shepherd as the Falcons grabbed a 2-0 lead.
The first of Limestone's runs began with Tor Reinholdt's first strike with 8:59 to play before the half while Shayne Jackson and Corey Rich followed to give the Saints a 3-2 halftime lead.
Out of the intermission, Zach Cummings made it a 4-2 Limestone advantage for Shepherd went back-to-back before Hammock added his second as Pfeiffer stormed back for a 5-4 lead.
Riley Loewen started the Saints comeback to square the contest at 5-5 through three in front of Reinholdt taking over with the first two in the fourth quarter to provide a little insurance with 10:55 to play. Limestone would add two more late goals in the final five minutes to secure their tournament championship.
Anthony Lamarca, Zac Clark and goalkeeper Hayden Kirk were named to the all-tournament team.
Pfeiffer is schedule to play their 2012 regular season finale next Sunday at home against Lindenwood beginning at 1:00 p.m.
