MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Pfeiffer women's volleyball team (0-16, 0-9 CC) was swept by Lees-McRae (9-6, 5-2) on Friday evening. The Bobcats won by scores of 25-12, 25-23 and 25-19 to move three games over .500 in the conference standings.
Kelsey Blauser led the way with six kills on the evening and pushed over the 100-kill mark for the 2014 season. Andrea Lopez and McKenzie McDonald each finished with five kills in the contest.
Jariliz Cotte led all players with nine kills and Jordan Banta added seven kills for the visitors.
Lees-McRae scored 13 of the first 16 points in the opening set and never looked back. The second set started out in a similar fashion as the Bobcats rallied for an early 6-1 lead. However, the Falcons would respond and score 18 of the next 25 points to take a 19-13 lead. Lees-McRae would not be outdone and ended the set on a 12-4 run to claim the victory. The Falcons were unable to mount a rally in the third and final set, despite a solid effort down the stretch.
Anna Tompkins had 11 assists in the match and Katie Wilson added eight helpers. Haley Denny led the Falcons with 11 digs on the match and Blauser added four assisted blocks.
Lees-McRae finished with 10 service aces on the evening and hit .143 as a team.
Pfeiffer hit .022 and finished with 22 attack errors and nine service errors.
Pfeiffer returns to action tomorrow afternoon as they host King at 2 p.m. inside Merner Gymnasium.ÂÂ
