MISENHEIMER, NC- The Pfeiffer Women's Soccer team turned a 1-0 halftime lead into a 5-0 blowout over Conference Carolinas rival Erskine College on a windy Homecoming day at N.E. Lefko Field. Pfeiffer (5-5, 3-1 CC) outshot the Flying Fleet (2-7, 1-4) 43-3 in a dominating performance on the both ends of the field.ÂÂ
Aaliyah Jackson continued her impressive return, leading Pfeiffer with two goals on the day, her first two tallies of the season. Jackson collected a ball in the box and deposited the first strike of the game in the 31st minute to give Pfeiffer an early 1-0 lead. That lead would hold up until the 51st minute when Jackson scored off an assist by Katlyn Stevens.ÂÂ
Pfeiffer would add two more in the next ten minutes to increase their lead to 4-0. Kaitlin Sampson scored just two minutes after Jackson, while Jennifer Baity added one in the 63rd minute. Gabrielle Ligas scored her the first goal of her career to cap the scoring in the 87th minute.ÂÂ
Blakeney Blair picked up her first win of the year in goal making two saves while collecting the shut out, Pfeiffer's third of the season. Ashton Burgess led Erskine in goal making 16 saves.
Pfeiffer held an advantage in almost every statistical category, leading 9-3 on corner opportunities as well as 22-2 advantage on shots on goal.ÂÂ
The 43 shots fired fell shy of the school record for shots in a game which was set on Sept. 13, 2008 as the Falcons fired 58 shots against Converse.
Pfeiffer returns to action on Thursday at home against Mount Olive at 2pm.
