SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Gretchen Dettlinger scored twice and Aaliyah Jackson added another as the Pfeiffer women's soccer team (12-6-2) defeated Lees-McRae (7-11-1) by a final score of 3-0 on Friday evening. With the win, Pfeiffer advances to their fourth conference championship match in the last five years and will face a familiar foe, Belmont Abbey, in the title game.

The Falcons and Crusaders will meet with an NCAA Tournament berth on the line for the fourth time in five years on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. Pfeiffer is 2-1 in title games against Belmont Abbey.

Dettlinger opened the scoring in the 7th minute off an assist from Macy Rutledge. Dettlinger sent a shot from 20 yards out that looked like an easy save for the Lees-McRae keeper. However, the ball squirted between her legs and over the goal line to give the Falcons the early advantage. In the 30th minute, Jackson pushed the lead to 2-nil, giving the Falcons an insurmountable advantage.

In the 56th minute, Dettlinger lofted a shot over the diving keeper for her fourth multi-goal effort of her freshman season. The goal gave Dettlinger 10 strikes on the season, which ties her for eighth place in Pfeiffer history for most goals in a season.

For the match, Pfeiffer held a 13-11 advantage in shots and an 8-4 lead in shots on goal.

Blakeney Blair made four saves to preserve her fifth shutout of the season and improve to 8-2-2 in her rookie season.

The Falcons look to defend their 2013 Conference Carolinas Tournament championship on Sunday afternoon. Dating back to 2006, only one team besides Pfeiffer or Belmont Abbey came away with a Conference Carolinas title. Pfeiffer has a chance to be the first back-to-back Tournament champ since the Crusaders won consecutive titles in 2005 and 2006.
