COLUMBUS, GA - The Pfeiffer women's volleyball team (0-5) struggled in the opener of the Columbus St. Tournament on Friday evening. The Falcons were defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne (4-1) in three games as Pfeiffer's offensive struggles continued.
The Bears won by final scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-16 to secure the victory. Pfeiffer was unable to overcome 22 errors in the match as Lenoir-Rhyne won their third straight match. Senior Kelly Lancellot had nine of the Falcons 18 kills on the evening, while also leading the team with a .154 hitting percentage. Junior Kelsey Blauser added five kills and a .133 hitting percentage to go along with one solo block and two assisted blocks. Andrea Lopez paced the Falcons in digs with nine and chipped in a service ace.
Eight different players recorded a kill for Lenoir-Rhyne in the victory. Haley Rhyne led the way with nine kills and Briana Gottberg handed out 23 assists.
Pfeiffer looks to get on the winning track with two more matches tomorrow morning. In the opener at 10 a.m., Pfeiffer battles Brevard. At noon, Pfeiffer plays the hosts from Columbus St.
