Box Score

Box Score

MISENHEIMER, NC - The Limestone Saints (1-1-1, 1-0 CC) scored three goals in a 6:12 span in the early stages of the second half en route to a 3-2 win over the Pfeiffer women's soccer team (2-3, 0-1 CC) in the Conference Carolinas opener. Zoe Fisher scored twice in 3:29 during the spurt for Limestone and Gabriella Reid notched a goal and an assist.

Jennifer Baity and Hannah Hill were the goal scorers for the Falcons.

Pfeiffer outshot the Saints 19-9 in the contest and had a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks. Pfeiffer fired 13 second half shots, doubling Limestone's total for the final period.

Hill scored the lone goal of the first half as Tori Jackson lofted a pass into the box that Hill fired in the top right corner of the net to give the Falcons the advantage in the 38th minute. Earlier in the half, Pfeiffer's Kayla Rodriguez had perhaps the best chance of the first 45 minutes but her free kick from just outside of the box sailed wide. The half would end with Pfeiffer holding a 6-3 advantage in shots.

Fisher started the flurry of goals for the Saints 4:17 into the second half as she capitalized on a turnover at midfield and beat Pfeiffer's keeper Blakeney Blair to even the score. Fisher's second score came in the 53rd minute as Reid was credited with the assist. Moments later, Pfeiffer's corner kick deflected off a defender and Reid won the sprint to the loose ball. She sprinted down the sidelines past Pfeiffer's last defender and put her shot in the bottom right corner of the goal to give the Saints the lead for good. Baity would answer for the Falcons 1:36 later when Gretchen Dettlinger sent a cross into the box that the sophomore headed into the net. Despite a strong effort in the closing moments, Pfeiffer was unable to draw even as Limestone prevailed.

Blair made four saves in her first career start for Pfeiffer. Mariette Martinez earned the win and recorded eight saves in the match.

Pfeiffer returns to action on Saturday afternoon as they host Conference Carolinas newcomer, Southern Wesleyan, at 2 p.m.
