MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Pfeiffer women's volleyball team (0-9, 0-2 CC) rallied late but came up short against North Greenville (9-1, 1-0 CC) on Friday night. The Falcons erased a 2-0 deficit with a win in the third set, but the Crusaders stormed back to win in four.
Shenelle Charlot set a career-high with 15 kills in the contest and Kelly Lancellot added 14 kills of her own, marking the first time this season that Pfeiffer put two players in double figures in the kill column. The Falcons also hit a season high .132 in the match and battled in each set.
Charlot finished with an excellent stat line as she recorded her first career double-double. The freshman tallied a .344 hitting percentage, 17 digs, three assisted blocks and a service ace.
Kenzie Pierce led the Crusaders with 12 kills and Yomi Adeyeye added 11 for North Greenville who hit .219 as a team.
Katie Wilson, making her first collegiate start, recorded a game-high 28 assists and Anna Tomkins provided a lift off the bench as she dished out 14 assists and had the winning kill in the third set. Allison Rosas added 15 digs and Andrea Lopez chipped in with 14. McKenzie McDonald finished with five assisted blocks on the night.
North Greenville clawed to a 25-23 victory in a hard-fought first set and then grabbed a 25-15 win in the second set. Pfeiffer was determined not to go down easily as the Falcons scored the first five points of set three, causing a Crusader timeout. After a block from McDonald and Charlot, Pfeiffer had a 7-2 advantage. However, the Crusaders battled and took a 20-18 lead. Pfeiffer rallied behind the serving of Rosas as the team scored five straight to regain a 23-20 advantage. Again the Crusaders fought back and cut the lead to 24-23 before Tomkins recorded the winner.
North Greenville was undeterred and took the fourth and final set by a final of 25-19.
Pfeiffer is back in action tomorrow afternoon as they host Southern Wesleyan at 2 p.m. in Merner Gym.   ÂÂ
