MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Pfeiffer women's volleyball team (0-1) opened its season with a tough 3-0 loss at the hands of Slippery Rock in the first annual Falcon Classic played at Merner Gym. Laura Fortner had a game-high 10 kills for Pfeiffer but Pfeiffer was done in by its 26 attack errors on the evening.

Senior Kelly Lancellot and freshman Shenelle Charlot each had nine kills for the Falcons offensively as Pfeiffer held a 35-31 edge in kills over Slippery Rock. Emily Wall and Andrea Lopez recorded nine digs and Emily Wall handed out 33 assists in the loss.

Slippery Rock was led by nine kills and 12 digs from Leah Jones. Kristy Lake added eight kills as Slippery Rock hit .184 against the Falcons.

Slippery Rock cruised to wins in the first two sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-16. However, Pfeiffer refused to go down easily in the third set before eventually falling 29-27.

Pfeiffer returns to action in day two of the Falcon Classic as they host Shepherd (10 a.m.) and Georgia College (2 p.m.) tomorrow.
