MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Pfeiffer women's volleyball team (0-3) dropped its final two matches on the last day of the first annual Falcon Classic. Pfeiffer fell to Shepherd (1-1) in the opener, before faltering in the finale to Georgia College (2-1).
In the first match, Pfeiffer dropped the opening set but rallied to take the second set by a score of 25-21. However, the Rams would take the final two sets by finals of 25-15 and 25-19. Senior Kelly Lancellot led the Falcons with 10 kills and junior Kelsey Blauser added eight kills. Junior setter Emily Wall handed out 23 assists, while freshman Shennelle Charlot paced the team with seven digs. Lancellot added four total blocks in the losing effort.
For the contest, Pfeiffer hit .044 as a team, while the Rams finished with a .175 hitting percentage. Taylor Allen led all players with 11 kills for Shepherd.
Georgia College took the second match of the afternoon 3-1. Lancellot again paced the Falcons in kills with nine. Charlot added seven kills and a team-high .182 hitting percentage as the freshman was selected to the All-Tournament team. Wall finished with 22 assists and eight digs in the contest and Blauser chipped in six kills, three digs and three total blocks.
Shepherd University was crowned the champion based on a point differential tie breaker.
The Falcons are back in action on Tuesday evening as they travel to local rival Catawba for a 7 p.m. match.
